Mix & Match

Tips to keep you looking smashing all through the semester.

Everyone gets the feeling that they are out of clothes. We can never have enough clothes but at the same time we can; it's all about improvisation. Most times we can't wear a dress because it's too short, everyone has seen that dress or the dress doesn't go with your mood... There's no problem because there's a solution.
·         You can wear that short fitted dress with a flared or fitted skirt by tucking it in.
·         You can change a free dress to a Bella dress by adding a belt.
·         You can fold in the collar of your shirt and turn it into a bishop collar (better done with an iron).
Those are some little tricks you can do to help you rotate your clothes without anyone noticing. Another reason why people get stuck in the outfit issue is because they wear the same combination every time. This makes it easier for the picture of your outfit to get stuck in anybody's head. Try to combine differently, explore your outfits in any form possible.
This problem which is common among students happens at the resumption period. Obviously everyone buys one or two new clothes before coming back which is good. But most people wear all their new clothes during the first week of classes which is a big mistake. Yeah you have to start the session shinning but in all institutions lecturers hardly come for classes on the first week of resumption neither do student go. Sometimes it flows into the second week of school. Try not wearing all your new clothes on the first week on school. You can start on the third week when everybody is around to see that beautiful skirt you got or that shirt that's Jamais Vu. Also, combine these new clothes with the old ones to make it sufficient. You can also create a trend of wearing one new outfit a week, just keep rotating them ( better done on the days when you have classes all day and you'll be walking around the school) hahaha.
Well, I know with these little tricks and tips you can survive through the semester without worrying about clothes.

Hello guys, hope you're having a lovely week. My week has been "just there" nothing exciting happening. Were you at the eatdrink festival last Sunday? What did you think about it? For me, it wasnt so bad but it was really full and for those that brought cars, I'm sure they found it hard finding a space to park. Oh well Oh well whats the next event you're going for this summer? Hope it goes well *fingers crossed*

Today I have something different from the whole food ish. We'll be featuring a lovely young lady who from her young age had a great passion for fashion. I had the privilege of studying with her in Secondary school & a double privilege of being in the same university with her. Apart from her creativity, she's also a very lovely lady with an amazing personality. She's currently in Babcock University studying Economics. She does her fashion designing business on the side. Shes a great model for those who want to follow their dreams. Go to school, get that degree but it also doesn't stop you from doing what you love be it singing, dancing, sewing, etc but remember to always be the best in whatever you are doing.

So today, we'll be featuring *drum roll* Efeni Lydia, CEO of Jemzais Vu (Never seen) fashion line & she'll be giving us tips on how to mix and match our clothes most especially in school where we feel we repeating clothes is an abomination.

Restaurant Review: Mango Room

Aaron's mall,
Olubunmi Owa street,
Lekki Phase 1, Lagos

Hello guys, this weekend I went to check out Mango room restaurant. Its a new restaurant in Lekki. What really pushed me to going there was the bubble Tii I really wanted to have and it was amazing, trust me. The restaurant is not so big but its comfortable.

It costs about 1000 naira depending on the size. So refreshing! Have yours today.

Whats on the table?
Notice their food menu doesn't come with the price? hahaha I'm sure they purposely did that so you wouldnt get discouraged.
Anyway, I wanted to have the lamb in curry sauce and rice but the sauce wasnt available so I ordered for the Chicken in curry sauce.

chicken in curry sauce

I already ate a spoon before I remembered I hadnt taken a picture lol!
The food was really nice and was worth the price (3200) although thats still expensive. Everything was good till I started eating the chicken. Before today, I actually thought restaurants threw some odd parts of the chicken away like the bum, neck etc I was quite disappointed when I started eating it after paying 3200..... imagine. So I called them and my name was taken down, they owe me a complimentary meal whenever I come in ;)
The chef should be more careful next time. Asides that, everything else was fine and I enjoyed meal.

Have a nice week.

Restaurant Review: Nok by Alara

12a Akin Olugbade Street,
Victoria Island Lagos.
09085614815

Hello everyone, hope you had an awesome weekend, mine was great. During the weekend I went for Brunch at Nok by Alara with my two sisters and uncle. Its indeed a really beautiful place.
The female waiters are dressed in iro and buba, beautiful idea.
food menu
The food wasn't as expensive as I expected it would be although its not also cheap.
drinks menu

I had the Peanut Crusted Fried Chicken thighs with sweet potato pancakes. I really enjoyed the chicken but I scared of what it would taste coated with peanuts so I requested for it to be plain. It very hot and delicious. The pancake too was okay, I give it a 6/10. For drinks, I had the passion sunrise and it was A*, purfecto.
My elder sister, as a copy cat, also ordered what I was having. My little sister had the Agege bread French toast with Homemade Honey and fresh fruit. She was quite disappointed when she got her order as it was really small compared to what she was expecting, also, she was very hungry. My uncle had the Nok chopped salad with eggs, chicken, turkey bacon, avocado and red beans. I bet he enjoyed his meal but he complained about the waiter not being well trained.
What a beautiful restaurant. Very nice place to take pictures. I also feel it would be a very nice place to go on date.
woahh look up :D
I dont advise you to come here if you're famished. We waited over 20 minutes for our food as the food is made from scratch.
nok art
The environment is lovely decorated potraying the Nok culture of the Hausas.
You really should visit the restaurant. On the average, you should spend about 15,000 naira. Not bad innit?

New post!!

My very good friend Anike Fisher of https://westcoastcity.wordpress.com/ just started writing recently. Below is one of her recent writeups. I seem to really like this one. Kindly read and feel free to post comments.

To the days I never thought I would get through:
turns out I did.
Bloody knees and scared wrists are enough proof of the battles I have fought
mostly within myself. When always caught between self hatred and learning to love myself, it turns out hatred was always stronger. In the tug of war of emotions, hatred had more people on their team, more reasons to belittle my worth, more excuses to not try and so I did not try.
I began to settle for second best, stared at my reflection in the mirror long enough to understand that there are things quite hard to love here;
understanding doesn’t always make it better
sometimes it is just harder,
whatever they said to me about acceptance turned out to be a lie
so I accepted that there are things about me far too complicated to really love
and that didn’t make it better
at the end of the day, I am still going unloved on the days when my bones are breaking beneath the weight of my desire to be deemed worthy enough of something so beautiful
at the end of the day, I still haven’t quite learned about what it takes to love myself.
Hello everyone, its been a while since I posted anything on here. Hope you are having a great week! I'm currently working for the holiday and its not easy at all, honestly don't know how people do the 8am to 6pm job! I should really enjoy my life as a student , its much much much better than this STRUGGLE lol. I'm seriously looking forward to the weekend. Hope your week is much better than mine.

Restaurant Review: Samantha's Bistro

The first time I ever visited Samantha's was with my friend. We were actually quite bored and hungry so we felt we should go out to eat as thats what we love doing. I had been hearing of the place "Samantha's Bistro" for quite sometime so I felt we should go there to give it a try. After taking a long look at the menu, I finally ordered a chicken burger with a Mojito, praying in my mind that it actually doesn't end up a waste of my money and guess what?? I didnt!  I was very wary of the mint leaves in the drink. It reminded me of ugwu leaves but it was really nice.

Next time I ate their burger was at the GT Food and Drink Fair, I had the buttermilk chicken club. Their burgers are very good. Its prepared from scratch so its always very fresh. However, you have to wait till the food gets ready (If you are verryyyyy hungry its not so advisable you go there). Ultimately, the food is really good. For lunch, you’ll be looking to spend at most 7000 naira, drinks included, so its fairly affordable.
The space is actually very nice, although its in the like boy's quarters of a building. Looks like a good spot to hangout and just have drinks with your guys. I give the place a 7/10.
You should check it out!

Have a great weekend,
Alex O.
